NDR-Parker's turkey hunt

Brian Story

Parker, my oldest (8 yo), did it again. He must have a lucky gene or something, but we had youth turkey season this weekend and he doubled up on a couple of nice gobblers! I don't know who was breathing harder, him or me! Birds worked perfect off the roost. Came in strutting, drumming and cutting me off when I called. Had them gobbling at 10 yds when he took the shot. Dropped the one and the other started flogging (sp) the dead one. Didn't take but a second before he was down also! Very happy father and son! GOD is GOOD!

Congrats Parker!! You Da Man! Oh, and way to go Brian for showing that lad down the right road. Those are two dandy gobblers.

Another wonderful story for that memory bank. Way to go, Parker. Dad, just plain awesome! By the way, Brain, it was nice to see a picture without snow and ice in it.

Unbelievable! That boy is not going to have anything to work towards when he gets older, ha. Guess there's always a 200+ pt buck he can chase or something...

AWESOME! Many congratulations!

I'm hoping this weekend will be as generous to me....

Way to go! My son is 9 months old today, I cant wait to take him turkey hunting.... unfortunately here in NY we have to wait until kids are 12 years old. Dad just might have to take him on a trip where he can hunt at 8 years old! Congrats to your son!

Brian - I meant to ask earlier, what gun/shell combo is he using? I'm trying to scout out something for my younguns, preferably that could be used for ducks and turkeys.

Kyle-They are shooting a youth 1187 20 gauge with a bushnell reddot. Custom nitro 3 inch 4,5,6 shot I think. It'll reach out there to 45 yds or so, but we had these jokers at 10! Parker couldn't remember the recoil, so must not have been to bad. They shoot a M2 compact benelli 20 for ducks. I've tried taking the reddot off and then later putting it on, but it's not worth that to me, easy to get loose on the mount and may have to retap it soon.
