Since the boss works part time at the local library, I have been reading a ton of books over the past couple years. A few weeks ago she brought home a book by Rick Bass, 1000 DEER. This writer has a very unique style and I find him to be particularly entertaining writing about deer hunting in the Texas Hill country and also in Montana. He really gets after some of the deeper connections to nature that hunting makes. Sometimes I find myself reading a piece of a story several times as his style bounces back and forth from very entertaining to very deep.

I am now reading COLTER which reminded me of a hundred reasons why hunting dogs are essential.........all in the first 10 pages.

Rick's style may not be for everyone but I mention him here because I had never heard of him and because I think some others will enjoy his work. It will not be a surprise to me if he becomes very successful, likely is already.
