While this is not duck related. It is a safety concern for those of you who run boats with your female friends or wives.

Our company has offered these Women on Water class to our customers for years and it has been a great success.

We have now opened it up to non-customers and best of all it is FREE!

We have set up classes in different size catagories and configurations. This is a hands on class where they will learn everything about the vessel. From engine room checks to docking procedures, electrical, navigation and instrumentation. It is all covered in a brief 3 hour crash course (no pun intended).

What is better than someone else teaching your wife to drive a boat and if she screws up, it's not your boat that gets damaged. All classes are run by one of our licensed captains.

The classes will take place at our marina in Lindenhurst, NY

6/3 & 7/8 Outboard
6/10 & 7/15 single i/o
6/17 & 7/22 twin i/o
6/24 & 7/29 inboards

Classes are 12:30 pm to 3pm

Shoot me a PM if anyone is interested.

Have a safe boating season.

It is always great to learn about Water Safety. The Enforcement of this law will not go into effect until Nov. 2013.
I have spoken to one of my Coast buddy's. Coast Guard "WILL NOT ENFORCE this new Law" Coast Guard is Federal, not County. So this is left up to a few "Water Cops"??????
Another Question to our County Officials, what about boats coming in from Nassau County & Conn. coming into Suffolk Waters?????

Dave,

This is not a boaters safety course. It is a hands on class where they will learn to pilot the boat by doing it with a captain onboard.
The way the new Suffolk county law reads: Only operators of vessels registered in Suffolk county will need to have a safe boating certificate. I'm sure Nassau will follow soon but they have not put anything on the books yet.

John, glad to hear you and your company has really has stepped forward to provide these classes. Boaters course is a good book course. Hands on is GREAT. Wish some marina would offer the same out here. Worked for a towing company and have seen about everything. Good move John.

John:
Sounds like a great idea, we all need back-up sometimes. I thought it pertained to the new Suffolk County Water Safety Classes Law. Good luck with the course.

I always figured that if I go overboard with my wife in the boat I was stuck because she would throw her head back and laugh as she headed for shore at full throttle.
