NDR- WTB/WTT Decoys for urns

I saw a picture of this so I won't take any credit for it, but would any of the carvers in the group be interested in making a couple of decoys for me to use as urns for my dogs ashes? I need 2. One large and one small.

They don't have to be super detailed or fancy. Something nicer to sit on the mantel.

I would ask for a hollow in the bottom to place the ashes and glue the bottom on.

The idea may need some refinement, but I am looking for a starting point.

Thanks in advance

Dennis, i have made a few for my labs over the years and one is sitting on the shelf, awaiting the remains of a friend's lab.
I usually have the ashes available, along with perhaps, a license, to put in the urn/decoy. Since i still hunt with the dogs, i have been accustomed to placing some ashes in a snuff can, gluing to the inside before sealing. In the case of Bill, our last lab, there are also two coins, one from his birth year, one from his death year. After season, they are put on a shelf to hang out together until the next season.
What species are you thinking of? Would be happy to make one for you. Just the logistics of shipping some ashes to delaware would have to be worked out.

Wow, thanks guy. I had no idea about these until just recently. The other thread helped too. I did not even think about a usable decoy. Much more to ponder

USEABLE will be governed by how much of the ashes you want in the decoy.....I saw the decoy Jason is making for the other poster as it was being put together....the ashes are in a snuff can sized container that is inletted and then epoxied into the bottom of the hollow decoy....once its epoxied into place it will be waterproof even if the decoy should leak into the cavity....and down low like it is its very likely the decoy won't need a keel or exterior pad wt. to self right so in the off season it will sit flat wherever you display it....

Something big enough to hold ALL the ashes will definitely not be a working bird..unless you're hunting submerged diving ducks....
