NDR WWII Support Vessel

While looking through family documents I came across design these plans for the Airplane Rescue Boats my Great Grandfather Carl Adams built for the US Navy in Cambridge Maryland during WWII. Another well known South Jersey boat builder, Adam Price, also built boats for the war effort including D-Day landing craft. Thought I would share. Thanks, Bob!

What a beautiful vessel! I have often thought that many military vessels (and traditional work boats) share lots in common with gunning boats - where form always follows function - and every "appurtenance" is necessary and useful. They also look great painted in a single, non-glossy color.

Is this something you could frame and hang on your wall in a place of honor?

All the best,

Very cool stuff.

The WWII Museum in New Orleans has a whole section on Higgins Boats, they were designed by a Louisiana boat builder I believe.
