Good morning all.
I needed to put my lab down last week and it time to find another dogs. I am looking for a couch potato that has an on and off switch. I know I will never replace Mickey as he was the best dog I ever had, he was not the best hunter. Like most I do not hunt year around. He was great at trying to please.
Were do you start to find a great pet that hunts well? By hunting well the dog needs to listen to command, stay calm in the blind, take direction verbal and hand, needs to be great around people and other dogs is a must.
My thoughts are to try and find a year old dog.
Second choice would be a pup. I am open to labs and chessie
thanks,

Bill~

I am very sorry to hear you had to put Mickey down. And, I hope your hunt for his successor is fun and fruitful.

All the best,

SJS

Sorry for your loss. When I had to put my yellow down a couple years ago I spent months looking for another dog. I ended up buying from Jason Craig at Dark Timber Kennels. He was great to deal with and honest. www.darktimberkennels.com

From what I've seen posted here on the DHBP, I'd be talking to Al down in NM.

I second the Al Hanson endorsement. I have a 6 month old pup from him that is a pleasure to work with and a well tempered youngster!

Bill - I am very sorry to hear about your pup. I hope you find a new one to bring you the joy your last one did. Pat

Very sorry to hear of your loss.

I and a buddy have both bought labs from Iowa Pointing Labs (Tim Gallaezi, sp?), and we're incredibly happy with them. We both have them as family pets as well as hunting retrievers/flushers.

Best of luck.
