new boat...any blind suggestions

i agree with carl on this 100 percent about transom issues. if you have your heart set on a mud motor look into a flat bottom for optimal performance. running mud motors standing up and and with a 18 hp takes some getting use to. ive seen guys with that style run 9 and 13hp motors, they were slow and couldnt go as shallow but it got them through some thick stuff.

I used to have a lowe 16' v-bow with a 25hp go-devil on it that is on my current 19' roughneck. The trans was wood and i took a 1.5" galv pipe and 2 floor flanges and cut the pipe to fit from teh center of the trand and then against the rear seat and screwed it to the trans and seat. SOLID took any flex out of the trans of that boat for 4 years I ran it. that boat with just me and the dog woudl FLY for a deep V for sure put another guy in and its mud motor but i always got there.
