Hey Phil, for what it's worth I put a kevlar layer on all my boats because we break a fair amount of ice in the late season. Also for what it's worth I've never actually put a scratch in the boat that went down to the kevlar, but I do like knowing it's there. I think if you run in areas with a lot of stumps it would be some good peace of mind as well as long as weight isn't a concern.

EXACTLY MY POINT!!!! I have never gone that deep either... but I haven't run a mud boat since I started making my boat... peace of mind verse...need..... hmmmm

I haven't even damaged the glass ( 2 layers of 6 oz) on my Honker... and that has broken plenty of ice...
