All, I have been offered an incredible opportunity with a company in Maryalnd and will begin packing very soon. I will be going back to Aviation (my passion) and look forward to hunting the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac/Patuxent Rivers. The Church Decoy Co. will be shut down for a few months while I find my supplies in the boxes that are being packed. I look forward to contributing to this site in the future and getting together with all of you at an east coast decoy show soon. dc

Dave....

The mass confusion of a move.....box hell....where did I put that " X%^%*_m*(&PUOIGHIYT&^*%^&$56)()78" item...HAHAHAAH!!

Good luck with that....

My family moved on the average slightly more than once a year until I was 19....I lived in 22 different houses....you talk about insanity..

Good luck with the new job..

Matt

Dave good luck with the move and the new job. Is all the family going with or are the older ones staying in MO.?

Good luck with the new job Dave but I dont envey you with all that packing up mate, and all I can only say is (Fly me to the moon) because now mate you are on cloud 9.
take care and God Bless
Eddie.
Its all about Building that Bond.

Good luck man!

I'm sure you will like it just fine in Maryland. I love going down there. It is a great place for any waterfowler, lots of heritage and traditon there for sure.

It will be a typical move as in I will be go first and come back to get the wife, kids and dogs (going to go crazy without KC with me) after they finish school. My wife is from that area, we met there, she went to college there, and our kids were born there. It won't be very strange at all to move back and get back on "big" water. Will be talking with you all soon, plan on having my laptop with me because I have become addicted to this website. dc

Dave..

You are addicted?

DUCKBOATS.net causing an addiction? maybe that needs a congressional hearing and a withdrawal clinic for treatment...

Dave-
Welcome to Maryland!!! I just hope you dont have a long commute ..... I drive 40 miles each way, which takes me about an hour and a half. By the time I get home I'm ready to move back to Maine.

Dave,
Wow......good luck with the move and new job. What are you doing in the Aviation Industry? Very cool. Airplanes have been a long time passion of mine...since I was 3 years old & I'm still in RC model airplanes. I was even one of the founding members ('82) of the Yankee Airforce in Ypsilanti, MI....home of the B25.

We've even got an air base between my shop and lake house here (8 minutes from each)...Selfridge Air Base. Eddie Rickenbocker flew out of Selfridge and flew the Spad VII. If you have some time to look at it, I did an extensive article on a full scale Spad build by several of the guys in our club. It was built in a hanger on the base and is now in their museum. To see the article & NL, go to www.rccd.org and then to the Newsletter page and click on the NL for Feb 2010.

See if this link to the nl works: http://www.rccd.org/Documents/Newsletters/RCCD-NL-1002.pdf

Yeah Matt, I am addicted. Holy Crap am I getting orders now! Maybe I should tell people I am closing the company down every week. Haha! As if I didn't have enough to do, back to shredding cork and packing boxes. dc

Hey Lou, I was a jet engine mechanic for 22 years in the Navy and worked as Quality Control and Maintenance manager. I am going into the Government/contract world to oversee specific Naval aircraft programs. Can't wait. Glad to see that someone else loves Aviation too. I was in a WWII movie as a back seater gunner in the TV series War and Rememberance (never saw the movie). I flew in a Dauntless with the canopy open......unbelievable. We dropped a torpedo (fake) against a Jap carrier and then flew along at deck height, amazed at the number of guns flashing at us. Then we went high and rolled over for a dive bomber run. If I find the pictures I took while aloft, I will post them up. A once in a lifetime flight. dc

Dave,
I am happy for you and your family. Any time that you can be involved in a job where you can use the word passion, you are most fortunate indeed. Good luck, sir.

Hey DC,

Welcome to the east coast!! I look forward to meeting you. Make sure that you at least make the Tuckerton, NJ decoy show. Usually the last weekend in September. You'll see a lot of guys from the site there.

Finally got a few minutes to view the air museum website. Great stuff. I had the priviledge of going "behind the scenes" in a Washington DC facility to watch true masters repair and restore aircraft of all types for the Smithsonian. I love the Smithsonian, but this facility is where the "real" treasures were. That's a real nice museum you guys have up there. They did a great job on the Spad and I liked the airplanes that were outside. The F-4 was the first jet I "spun" wrenches on and the first jet I ever climbed into and fired up. The feeling of sitting on those two J-79's while they gulped JP-4 was unbelievable. I have many years with the P-3 and the C-130. I don't think there has been a better engine/prop combo than the Allsion T-56 and the Hamilton Standard 54-H60-111. The C-130 will always be my personal favorite, that "Fat Lady" took me around the world many times and brought me home safely. My wife would call and ask if I was coming home and if the "Mighty Herc" wasn't cooperating I would tell her that I was "massaging a Fat Lady tonight." She always knew that it was going to be a long night for me. Cool stuff Lou! dc
