If you are ever in NY you should stop in Rhinebeck and see the areodrome... They have the folker tri-planes, spads and such. The show is corny made for the kids, but the planes are awesome. from what I understand they have a club there that builds the old planes. Pretty cool.

Rhinebeck is definitely on my "to do" list. I've heard and seen a bunch of stuff on it. Sounds great.

Finally got a few minutes to view the air museum website. Great stuff. I had the priviledge of going "behind the scenes" in a Washington DC facility to watch true masters repair and restore aircraft of all types for the Smithsonian. I love the Smithsonian, but this facility is where the "real" treasures were. That's a real nice museum you guys have up there. They did a great job on the Spad and I liked the airplanes that were outside. The F-4 was the first jet I "spun" wrenches on and the first jet I ever climbed into and fired up. The feeling of sitting on those two J-79's while they gulped JP-4 was unbelievable. I have many years with the P-3 and the C-130. I don't think there has been a better engine/prop combo than the Allsion T-56 and the Hamilton Standard 54-H60-111. The C-130 will always be my personal favorite, that "Fat Lady" took me around the world many times and brought me home safely. My wife would call and ask if I was coming home and if the "Mighty Herc" wasn't cooperating I would tell her that I was "massaging a Fat Lady tonight." She always knew that it was going to be a long night for me. Cool stuff Lou! dc

Very cool stuff Dave. I was just watching the video of the C-130 and the Jato assist. Wow, what a kick. Sounds like you're in the middle of something you truly love.
