I am looking forward to your perspective. I wanted to buy one, but the factory at the time - 4 years ago - would only sell them in "packages".

Congratulations, one of the great joys a man can have is to purchase a boat motor.

Colin,

Do you know what that motor weighs? I was thinking about jumping up to a 40 but the weight is a concern on a BB3.

Howard, I think I read where they were coming out with e-tecs for smaller motors. Pete, I think they are pushing 200lbs. Wow! Just looked them up and it says 240lbs!

yes it is 240 lbs but it is a very narrow motor to fit between the sponsons. all the 4-strokes i looked at where much wider and still weighed 210-230 lbs. we will see how it handles.

200+ lbs is just too much for the BB3. Even with the extra horses I think I'd be robbing Peter to pay Paul with a minimal increase in performance unless the whole load was balanced real good. I think I'll just stick to my 30 for now.

four stroke, sorry, that is what the "F" in F40 means (but I shouldn't expected anyone to know that).

Heh heh heh...I wasn't being a smartass..just must have been posting while you guys were..had to sell a 1/4lb of nails after starting my question...

I replaced my Yamaha F40 with a 40 Etec.No comparison.The hole shot is better,faster,just as quiet,same gas mileage,NO maintenance for 3 years and a 7 year warranty.
I also run a 150 Etec on my dusky.NO compliants.

The small engines 15 25 and 30hp should be out at the end of the summer.

Best
Bob
