New Guy Sayin Hi

Outside of God, Country and Family my biggest passions are decoy carving and waterfowling. This forum looks like it hits on both and I’m looking forward to joining in the conversation. I’ve lived in South Jersey my whole life and most everything I know about carving and fowling I learned from my Dad over the last 40+ years. I carve in a traditional style using primarily a drawing knife, spoke shave and carving knife. I mostly hunt near Atlantic City and the Mullica River.

Regards,
Bob

I'm in upstate New York on the Hudson River. I wish I had the talent to carve like you. Watching people like you taking a piece of cork or wood and turning it into a duck or goose blows my mind. God gave you such a talent. It must be that much more rewarding shooting birds over your decoys. I hope you enjoy yourself on this site.

Welcome
Anthony

Hey Bob, glad to see you on here. Hope your season went well.?

Hi Ben, Thanks. Season wasn't bad, but I had hoped for better. I made a point of scouting some new spots this year that looked real promising. I still had some success, but I lost some days to the ice we had here. Also the salt marshes I hunt are almost entirely spartina which isn't overly tall to begin with. After some of the storm tides and ice/snow most of it was matted down and there just wasn't much cover, even in a layout blind.
