new guy

Well kind of new. I joined back in the fall but i'm just getting around to introducing myself. I found the site while searching for ideas for a sunfish conversion I was doing. Great site you guys have here. Tons of knowledge and information. I have pretty much stopped looking at other forums that I belonged to after finding this site.

I live in South Jersey and have been into hunting, fishing, clamming, diving, boats, and dogs my entire life. Water fowling took center stage in my list of hobbies about five years ago. Now it's what I spend most of my free time doing. I have a four year old chocolate lab, Porter, and an assortment or canoes and kayaks that I hunt out of. Hopefully in the next year or two I'll begin building a BBIII. I have been working in construction for the last 14 years and doing fine woodworking and cabinet making for the past 5-6. So I have the tools and basic woodworking knowledge but no boat building or glassing experience. With that said, once I begin you will probably be hearing a lot of questions from be. I also just started carving this winter. I have always wanted to try it but never new where to start. After viewing all the carving related post on this site I decided to just dive in. It has been very fun but a little harder then I thought. When I get a photobucket account and figure out the picture posting I'll put some decoy pics up for critique.

Thanks for letting me introduce myself. I hope everyone has a nice Easter. Luke Berkey

Luke,

Welcome to the site and don't worry about asking too many questions. We all have questions from time to time and there is a wealth of knowledge within the members on most any subject. The picture thing is really easy from a Photobucket account.

If I may, one suggestion I'll make, is to copy and paste your introduction info, over into your user profile. That way it is always available for future reference for those that might miss this one thread.

I am sure with your background, you will have no trouble building a fine boat, which ever model you might choose to build.

Welcome Luke! There are a number of members that live and or hunt in your area. You should have no trouble getting some face to face help if needed. I hunt in your area in the early split when I can.

Thanks for the welcomes, and suggestion. Gene maybe we can get together for a hunt if you make it down this way this fall.

This is a pic of my dog, Porter.

I'm trying to figure out the picture posting. I think I got it.

Sounds good Luke. I'll let you know when I'm headed that way. I missed it because of the weather this year but that opener for the early season has been a tradition of mine for a number of years now.

Happy Easter!

Gene

Luke,
come on over to Havre de grace, first two days in may for the decoy festival---Bring some of your stuff!

Be warned, all of this boat/decoy stuff can be quite addictive!!
