Greetings from SE Minnesota. I actually found this site through your archives. Nice job by the way. Back in ’74 (I was much younger then) I wrote to Zack Taylor and purchased a signed copy of his book ‘Successful Waterfowling’. I subsequently built two versions of his barge blind and 3 skiffs but always wanted to build a Zack Box. When I finally got around to it this winter I did series of search’s and found the this site along with the archive photos like Gus Heinrichs’ skiffs. Once complete intend to us the boat in the wild rice beds, bald sand bars and maybe some open water here on the Mississippi River.
Thanks for the assist – I’ll try to attach some photos

This is a great site. A wealth of information and a pretty good group of guys to go along with it.

I built my own version of a "Zackbox" that I hunt with most of the time. Started with a 14' SmokerCraft alum hull, then decked it over and added a second hand Cordura blind from a Bankes "Dominator" 14 foot boat. Works like a charm.

I also built a "Sneakbox Widgeon" about twenty-five years ago. It's been in moth balls, although I pulled her down out of the rafters last year. i intend to give her a good goin' over and use her a few times next year.

Welcome!

Welcome, Paul~

I joined this site just a few weeks ago - great people, lots of good information and inspiration - to get on all those gunning projects that seem to pile up with this equipment-intensive pursuit.

I read Taylor in Sports Afield as a child - his book is one of my favorites - especially because it speaks to my saltwater (Long Island, NY) roots.

All the best,

SJS
