new skiff

looking to build a new skiff in the off season, built one out of 1/4 inch plywood and fiberglass a few years ago but its to big and heavy want something lighter. my buddy has a nice one and was wondering the best way to make a mold of it so i could try to make one out of fiberglass, or would building a wood frame with canvas to fiberglass be a better way to go

Making a mould is no small feat. You'd be better of simply taking off the lines to record the shape, so you can reproduce it. Would not be as hard as it sounds.
