New to the forum! Heres my higbee!

Michael,

FWIW When I mounted the lights on my sneakbox, I raised them to where they can be seen above the grassing. I might be a bit paranoid but I really want to be seen while navigating the river channel. I don't want someone telling my widow, "I couldn't see his lights, didn't know he was there."

Looks good. Might be late to tell you but natural colored raffia hanks can be dyed easily w/rit dye in a large turkey fryer pot. I use about 3 bottles of dark brown dye and 1 bottle black. Depth of color obtained by amount of time left in hot mixture. At a minimun 15 minutes. Also you can get different colors from J Stern Comp.in bulk but I find it better to dye my own. I cut my raffia sections Tie in middle w/bailing twine and fill up pot . After dyeing lay out to dry and attach w/zip[ ties.

You can?t really tell in the pics but there is actually 5 diff colors of rafia mixed all together. I?m pretty sure j stern is where we order it from we got it in bulk for a jon boat blind. I did want a little darker But I have so much rafia left that doesn?t sound like a bad idea to throw some darker patches right s the season goes on.

Did you just get dye from like a craft store?

Actually got it from WalMart. I use the liquid Rit . If your not satisfied with the Sterns colors they can always be darkened w dye. I,ve had to custom dye my own as area I,m generally using Big Boat blind is wooded background and just couldn,t get the right mix of colors thru them. Another trick is to take your lighter & darker shades of raffia and cut sections and mix all together in big tub or even on patio floor. Then form the individual hanks your attaching to blind and tie in middle w/twine.
