I came across the forum while I was searching Devlin's site looking for a potential future boat build. Can't say that this being an immediate project, but one that certainly peaks my interest. I consider myself pretty handy with tools and marvel at the craftsmanship many have displayed in this forum with their carvings and boat projects. Some very impressive workmanship.
I'll take a moment to introduce myself. I'm a northwest native (proof being my webbed toes) and avid Elk and upland bird hunter. Many years ago, prior to our kids, used to hunt over my yellow lab. At the encouragement of my wife, bought a black lab a year later just to keep the other company during the day while we were both working. Spent many a day chasing Chukar and jump shooting ducks in Ea Wash. As my yellow aged and was too old to go afield, my interest in duck hunting waned. It's been just over two years now since we lost both dogs to old age within 6 months of each other.
My son, passed his hunter ed course two years ago and has spent a great deal of time in the field chasing deer and elk with me and Grandpa. The boy shot his first grouse near the end of deer season with his Rossi youth model 308, a pretty clean head shot from nearly 25 yards. Picked up a youth model Rem 870 20ga this past fall and introduced the pup and boy to bird hunting. I'm having a gaining interest in getting back into duck hunting and with a couple of friends from work have spent a few weekends taking the boy and the dog, both have done well.
I'm looking forward to more interaction here on the forum. I'm considering the BB3 for the boat build in the future and wonder how well it fishes as I enjoy fly fishing many of the lakes in our state. Looking forward to hearing and conversing with you all.
