Got my gear together Friday night knowing Saturday morning would likely greet me with a nice nor'easter here on the Jersey coast. I woke up and heard the rain pounding on the roof and one look at the radar sent me right back to bed figuring I would just hunt the afternoon instead.
Had a wet hunt in a flood tide with 25-30 knot northeast winds making it feel more like early December vs. November 1st. Didn't see a whole heck of a lot aside from the usual brant which were already being spooky on the flood tide. Managed to scratch out a black duck and a gadwall for my troubles. Running back home to the ramp straight into the wind and rain was fun, especially with all of the local streets flooding out with the tide when I got back in. Hopefully this weather pushes some birds down from up north.
