Just when I thought I'd seen enough outrageous gear, I turn to page 79 of the Cabela's waterfowl catalog and behold the "Mojo Pick Stick."

Seems like for the low price of $39.99 one would no longer have to worry about bending over to pick up an empty hull ........ bwahahahahahaha!!!

For a bigger chuckle, check out the you Tube video where the guy from Bass Pro advises: "Come and get chu' one!":

I think I'll start working on the "Mojo Pick Stick Quiver" accessory - Could be worn on one's back for easy hands-free transport of the Mojo pick stick.... or maybe strapped to the side of the Mojo spinner storage backpack. All I can say is: Tod, get chu' one!

I have seen that advertised - thought it was funny as well

But of course, my pair of empties are right there to extract when I open the breech to reload. Lol

And if that wasn't painful enough... you can get a second video by watching the first through to the end. It is possibly the worst production I have ever seen. Hard to imagine there were 216 episodes prior to this.

As funny and stupid and lame as this thing is it is not the iceing on the cake for lazy duckhunters gear to come out this year.

Looking in my new Mackspw catalog I seen a add for a duck call activated moterized jerk cord syestem, I mean come on really people.

As my old hunting partner's mother would say. - "Some people have more money than brains." And we all know what P.T. Barnum said...

Or you could go to your local hardware store and pick one up for about $10. I'm actually thinking about throwing one of the hardware store magnets in my dove hunting pack. I hate searching for empties in the grass. Those magnetic sticks are common on english driven hunts. Mojo sure didn't invent it. Makes clean up a lot easier when the shots can be in the hundreds.

I've got a collapsing/extendable rod with a magnet on the end (think old school radio antenna) that is necessary for taking the stock off my Bereta to fish out and replace an awkwardly placed part. It's perfect for picking up hulls or dropped hardware. I think it was $4.99 at my local hardware store.

Where do we get one of those call activated jerk rigs for Tod?

First of all, I'd want the MAGNUM PICK STICK upgrade with the power of multiple neodymium magnets. Second, how can they miss out on the opportunity to motorize that sucker?

Jerk, did someone say Jerk? :).

Good morning, Bob et al~

Having grown up with shells where the "brass" part was made of actual brass - and the rest waxed paper - it never occurred to me that one could use a magnet on empty shotshells......

All the best,

SJS

Ditto, I was thinking the same thing.

Some of us are from the generation that had to actually get up off our ass, to change the TV station on the television. Many improvements and changes in our life time, especially in the medical field. Nothing seems very surprising anymore, even though it should be.

I still call shotgun shells high brass and low brass, and was amazed when ACTIV made a all plastic shell, with a metal base in the plastic. Still have a few boxes, in the pre steel days they would put XX's in birds eyes very well.

Not that I would spend $40 for this thing but it is a good idea. I pick up hundreds of spent shells throughout the season that are not mine. Many being underwater. Many of the ones that are underwater I leave as the water is just above freezing and it is more important to me to keep my hands warm than pick up someone else's spent shells. I don't have gloves long enough to reach that far underwater.

The anti's, and others who barely tolerate hunters, do not need to have spent shell casings littering the areas in which we hunt and all share. Why provide another reason for them to think hunters are bad folks.

Now if someone would invent an easy way for all spent cigarette buts to be picked up and disposed of.....

i have the second one in the shop - the head's angle is not the most convenient
the first one would stow away better IMHO

They sell just the disk magnet a seen in the second link. I likely will just buy that and add it to a wooden pole already have. Or maybe find another smaller heavy duty magnet that would not be so obtrusive but still be handy.

Some of the magnets can be tied to a thin rope. That is what I'm going to carry on dove hunts. In the thin grass it can just be swung back and forth to pick up empties. That might not work as well in cattails and thicker reeds.

Ok the limit of ducks is six and in most places 15 for doves how bad of a shoot would you have to be to be to lazy to bend over or crawl around on your hands an knees and pick up the empties ?

Tim, not problem on the ground, but those that fall into wading water or are covered by the tide need a little help to reach.

You've obviously never sat next to me in the dove field! That said, it doesn't take much effort to keep empties tidied up as I shoot.
