No whine today

Life is good. Took a break from some chores today. Started the morning with some hash browns, a fried egg and a pile of shredded, browned goose breast. Drove over to a local hunting spot. Slowly walked the trails and ended up with three squirrels and one rabbit. Dang, I love my .17 HMR.

There was a little whining from me about the messed up vis from the front, no spearing this weekend. That was fixed with the other kind of wine though. The wineberry wine i made earlier this summer is quite delicious!

I love my little savage 17 hmr. Its a tack driver even with a cheap scope. They just came out with a semi which is supposed to be real nice too.

You outta the waterfowl game these days? I was surprised that my area was empty given the date, weather and feed fort the birds.

Damn, Tim, as much as I like Dave's hunt results...

Agree, I'd be happy with either bag. Typically my squirrel photos will only feature one or two at a time. I find the best time to skin them is while they are still warm to the touch. Often, when done cleaning one and before moving on, I scan the surrounding trees only to find one or more sitting on a limb watching me. This is a mistake on their part as they usually end up being next in the bag.

Tim,
Your photo actually saddens me. Several years back I had a nice lightweight Ithaca Model 500 in 12 gauge. Sold it to a young friend. Biggest mistake of my life. That gun was super sweet to carry in the field for pheasant. I got a couple over/unders yet today but I still miss that particular gun.

Tod,
I knew you'd appreciate it. [;)]

Dave,
I have heard a lot of good things about those Ithaca 500s. This is my first o/u. It weighs right at 6lbs, it is as nice to carry in the field as any gun I've handled.
Like my dad once told me "Never sell a gun and you won't regret it."

Al,
He is sleeping with his head on my arm as I type this. Went through a lot of heavy cover yesterday, he is one tired and sore pup today. Might not go out today...unless it is a short hunt.
This is how he ended up sleeping on the couch when we got home.

The season goes until the first weekend of January.
