25 yards is a long cast. Seriously. Except for saltwater, I catch most of my fish within 30-40 feet. Many of the streams I fish aren't even that wide.
 
Back in the day, with a clear back-cast area, I could cast the entire fly-line, down to the beginning of the backing.
But under real fishnig conditions, I rarely casted more than 50'.
So I agree, 25 yards is a heck of cast in most conditions!

Now that I think about it 20 yds is 60 feet. I was younger in those days so my range finding abilities were perhaps a bit skewed. It was I'm sure closer to 15 - 20 ft. rather than yards!...lol.....I do remember just a wipin that line. My dad told me I was going to have it frayed before I actually got to fish if I didn't break the tip off first!
 
No worries--the same inflation factor applies to fish size, or anything else you want to supersize!

Flyfishing is even more fun than duck hunting--and it gives you something to do with all those feathers.
 
Yep, if the line is snapping like a whip, you're putting just a little too much muscle into it!
I loved to trout fish back up in PA, used to tie my own flies. Got into a mayfly hatch one day, ran home tied some rough imitations and came back and caught fish. Dont get much better than that.
