I didn't read the link but know of the maneaters of Tsavo. They are/were at the Field Museum in Chicago and they is a movie out about them. The title escapes me at the moment. Val Kilmer played the lead.

The Ghost and the Darkness..

Seems every few months when working late at night on some whacked hydraulic model I stream that from Netflix..multitasking? or supreme boredom with non-convergence of the model?

The link is Patterson's book he wrote in 1907, the complete book is in that PDF (368 pages). Just thumbing through and looking at the illustrations/photos from the 1890-1900 or so, are interesting. Thought it might be of interest to some of the posters here.

I have read the book a few times, its a great read. Dont know about reading it on the computer though, think when i feel a sleep it would hurt more than a book falling in my face.

Think its amazing that only a hundred years ago that a bunch of lions could hold up a whole railway..Was not just lions, J A hunter says in his that rinos stoped work for months as well as maneating tigers with corbet in india. Think most of the great hunters had a lot of invovment in either the military or the railways often both.

If anyone enjoys reading it send me a pm and I will share some other great reads, most you can get now as cheap reprints. I collect old hunting, wildfowl, fishing and shooting books. Have a special spot for africa and India.

I agree with Gene. I read it when I was a teen. I had a neighbor who gave me a copy when I was a kid, still have it somewhere. Maybe I'll reread it.

I was a bit surprised to find it in PDF format for free. I down loaded it.

I read it when I was in high school but that has been 40 years. Geesh.. did I say that?
