November work bench

On the other hand, those zip ties are a big step up from the hose clamps I would have used - although - my zip ties would match each other, of course!
The fact the zip ties are unmatched in color serves a very important purpose. I know it is important or I would not have done it that way. Don't ask me what that purpose is,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I have eaten and slept since the zip ties were installed. When and if, I do in fact recall the purpose, you will be the first person I tell.
PS; it may have also been, simply because it was the last two heavy duty zip ties I had on hand.

Three-D printed rod holder clamps are in use. I wasn't thinking ahead of time. I could have made them multi colored. As it is, I'm checking to see if I can find black PVC to replace the white PVC. 🤔 Found black PVC @$5.84 to my door. Yay!

All~

Been flat-out with duckboats, farm and Life stuff of late - but did squeeze in a bit of decoy work.

This Wildfowler had been in a fire before it came to me. I love the shape! It is an Old Saybrook or maybe a Quogue bird.

We did not know it had lived as a Hen 'til close inspection. The charring covered lots of the OP (original paint).

Now destined to become a "he", the Superior Model (Hollow Pine) got new eyes and a sealing coating of varnish. No significant repairs were needed.

All set for a comfortable retirement on a shelf - presumably nowhere near flames.

I have a balsa-bodied version in my own Wildfowler puddler rig.

I also coated and painted these Herter's Model 72 heads for another friend.

All the best,

Not at all duck related, but it does prove that an old dog can learn new tricks.

I am self learning, a computer software program, in which I can created an accurately dimensioned 3D model. After which, the 3D model can be used to write a CNC program, to either "print" the part or "machine" the part to the proper dimensions.

Figuring out just where and how the different "sketches" must be drawn to create a full 3D model, has been challenging at times.

The project at hand is to create a fishing rod holder that can be mounted to my E-bike to carry a fishing rod with me. I slapped together a prototype using zip ties. The custom designed clamps will replace the zip ties.

The two halves will be drawn together with a stainless steel #8 machine screw and hex nut. The small opening clamps to the bike rack while the larger opening simultaneously clamps the piece of PVC. The PVC receives the fishing rod.

Sadly I do not have a 3D printer yet, so I have sent the STL- file, to a young friend of mine, who does have a printer.

Technology is grand and I am tickled with myself that I am able to dabble in it. :ROFLMAO:
E-bikes, CAD modeling, 3D printers...spinning reels...the traditionalist nature of the DHBP is gone...

All kidding aside, looking good. I kind of chuckled, if you had a nice straight stretch of bike path along a stream or lake you could troll. Reminds me of a day the wife and I walked over to the neighborhood park, and there were some teens water skiing behind a convertible car driving down the bike path...kids these days.

Yikes, Why oh why did I not feature my cane pole????? I can still pedal my pedal bike,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, on bike trails. The E-bike really shines when offroad, traversing soft soils. Areas I have pedal biked in the past, but are beyond my capabilities of today.

Sometime in the future, duck hunters will wonder why anyone ever bothered to put decoys out at all, when all you have to do is program a drone to capture a select duck in flight, and deliver him to your door. No worries about biting down on a steel or tungsten pellet. No more inadvertent hens harvested. 😁
