NY ammo sales

lets not get into the weeds of the politics

and - it may take a while for this to get known to the dealers

but- the NY "safe" act's ammo sales restrictions have been lifted after they finally admitted there was no way to build the state ammo background check system

our club was told by our ammunition distributor and confirmed by a state legislator

https://www.scribd.com/document/271175351/Mou-Ny-Safe-Act-07-10-15

this is especially good news to those of us needing non-tox for vintage guns since there is not enough local market for a LGS to stock it

Yeah, no one wants to ship to NY, makes it tough to get specialty ammo in small quantities, even dealers don't want to bother ordering a few boxes of whatever.
So anyone know what the restrictions are concerning a family member in another state shipping ammo legally to me?

under the old rule- no shipping into the state

this is the change- they have lifted the restriction from the reports- the issue is going to be will suppliers resume shipping to NY.

(NYC had previous restrictions and they remain)

more news - i may have been too hopeful

a Cuomo spokesperson is back peddling on the announcement by the legislators involved

"No provision of the SAFE Act -including the ban on Internet ammunition sales -- has been rolled back or altered due to this memorandum," Cuomo spokesman Rich Azzopardi said. "This simply acknowledges what has been said previously -- the ammunition sales database will not be prematurely introduced until the technology is ready and it does not create an undue burden for business owners. I don’t think it will happen until the NYS Safe act if repealed.

This is what it really boils down to. Regardless of what the Fed's say, our tyrannical Governor interprets our rights and doles them out as he sees fit. Do you realize the gun laws upstate are different than downstate? Worse yet, they are different in Western Suffolk County to Eastern Suffolk County. Can you imagine? Think about the guy who is literally across the street from a guy who is allowed "that gun" but because he is in "Western Suffolk" he can't.....and I'm talking about a .22 pistol; not "scary guns".....Arbitrary and Capricious at its finest? Or worst?
