October "What's on your Workbench?"

Hi Jim,

The AZ Ironwood burl is beautiful!! Hope to get the Blackwood, (that you fixed the trough for me so it wouldn't freeze up), out in the marsh soon and try for some greenheads.

Dave

Not really this months work bench, but my teal rig for this year. Birds I made for my self and set aside this summer and a few from years past.

Looks nice, purty wood.

You shoot patched balls out of that?

When I picked this kit up two years ago, yeah sometimes I put off projects, I had the choice between two and both had nice wood but I liked the stripes on this one. From what I hear though the wood on them is really hit and miss. Very little stain and a few coats of Tru Oil made it really pop.

Yep, I only want to shoot roundballs. It has a 1 in 60" twist.

Tim

So no scope then :).

Some people find it in poor taste. So I try not to rock the boat. But I did manage to shoot a pair of green wings over them that day

Yeah Wicked Teal-Rig...

Here's the goofy Redhead I posted a Pic of last month. Been in MN Working, and Hunting, and have had little time for Birds. I did make a point to finish this one. It's supposed to look like it's been around awhile...

I've been playing around with oil paints this summer to see if I could add a few new styles and techniques to my arsenal. I am pretty happy with the way I was able to wet blend acrylic paint, but that's nothing compared to the oils. When it comes to paint, I haven't found anything more satisfying than wet blending oils.

I can't quite say I favor one over the other yet, and that really wasn't my intention anyway. They both have strengths and advantages and I'll continue using both types of paint. I was just looking to add some variety.
