October Workbench...

Finally getting into the studio to do some painting.

Debated about whether to comb or spatter the vermiculation for this redhead drake. Decided to see what spatter would look like. Have used it on bluebills before (both hens & drakes) and it turned out pretty well.

Here it is with the under-painting & shading completed and ready for the spatter brush:

I'd round the corners a little more on those bottom two, just sayin'....

:)

Thanks Brad. Book me for one week of carving instruction. I like my coffee black and, eggs over easy... pg

Sure thing Pat. I think I've got an opening in mid December. We might need to go out and look for specimens so our fakes will reflect the real anatomy, color and shaping of their bodies and observations of how they float in nature.

Jode,
I would love to hunt over those teal and own those buffies. Thanks for sharing the pics. My shop should be ready to carve in again this winter. Floor is being poured this month and then I can start insulation and most importantly the wood stove. Hope to contribute to these threads again soon.

Pat,
Lets go hunt some bills!

Jode - Very good flock of GW's & pair of Dipper Decoys. How long before the dead mount carving of Rails? Keep on keepin' on brother.
