Thawing out some turtle (snapping) to eat tomorrow and figured since there are so many people, from so many different areas of the country I'd ask if anyone would care to share a recipe or recipes. Would be nice to try something different. You can private message them to me if you like. Thank you.

This duck season a fella from southern OH came down to hunt with us and he brought a huge batch. It was absolutely spectacular! He shared the recipe, but I didn't write anything down.

Put meat in a pressure cooker for 15 minutes. I guess if you don't have a pressure cooker, then slow cook in a crock pot for 6 hours would be fairly equivalent??
Use chicken stock as the base.
Add potatoes, green beans, onions, corn, canned tomatoes, bay leaves, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper.
Allow to simmer for several hours and then serve. Obviously, it gets better after it's re-heated. It was really good and a great treat!!

Let us know how it turns out.

Best,
Steve

Thanks man, I do one that is similiar to that, but parboil the meat for 1-2 hrs, depending on the size of turtle. Then add pretty much the same ingredients and toss in the crock pot on low. The meat I thawed is from a big 20+ lbs turtle. Just two legs and the neck. I may just debone the neck and one leg best I can, parboil til tender, then flour/season, and deep fry. Take the remains from deboning and other leg and stick it in some water with seasoning, boil til meat falls of the bones, then use that stock and add the ingredients you listed .... just to see what its like without chicken or beef broth. If it doesn't turn out I can always add the broth later. I figured with all the outdoorsmen on here I would have gotten a few new things to try out. I appreciate the response. Hope y'all had some great hunts while the Buckeye Turtler was down there.
