Oil Painting DVD

Can anyone suggest a good decoy painting instructional DVD in which oils are used? I have lots of books and they provide good advice, but I think a good DVD could be much more valuable.

I'm not concerned about a particular species or anything. I'm more interested in brush selection and technique, and general skills like blending, etc. that are applicable no matter what you are painting.

Thanks.

Mark,

Check out Geoff Vine's YouTube Channel "GVine." He has several videos from his painting seminar at the St. Charles decoy show. He works with oil paints and knows how to blend them. I learned so much just watching him paint that I forgot most of it and need to review his videos:) It might be the turps....

Mike: I understand you're looking for an instructional DVD, but if I might make a suggestion of a book which helped me improve my oil painting immensely. I'm referring to Keith Mueller's 2009 book " The Art in Making Decoys" . Keith goes into a good explanation of oil paint properties and includes a chapter close to 100 pages of detailed step by step photos/text of his masterful painting techniques. The down side is that I believe the book is out of print. It's a 457 paged hardcover color photo book originally published at $100 but well worth the money. If you keep a lookout on Amazon you could probably come across a used copy.

Thanks Ken. I actually bought the special edition of that book when it came out. It is really helpful.

I have that book, I'd love to see Keith transform the painting section into instructional DVD. It's hard for me to read, with the small, dense text on one page and then 5 pages of numbered photos. Flipping back and forth.

I keep telling myself though to sit down and do all the exercises in the book!
