Ok I give up. What is this?

One of my previous jobs was working in the Mould Yard at a Steel Mill. When ingot Moulds would split, usually at the base. Hilti guys would band the Moulds and attach the thick wide bands of steel with Hilti "shot" rivets. Lots of em...

In my experience, the men and women that work with hot steel and the environment that it's produced in, are unique. The very abnormal, dangerous and "Are You -ucking Kidding Me" are everyday work conditions. Some folks did it for 30-40 years straight.

Any who, in that vein of Crazy is Normal. Many a time the Hilti guys would have rivet fights. Where they would shoot at each other as they ran between the Moulds they were repairing. Rules were no head shots, and yes guys did get shot and went to the hospital if it was a bad injury. None ever got fired, cuz it's not the type of job many folks wanted to do, or were good at. They were outside contractors. Had they been mill employees, out the door they go.

I apologize for the hijack, but when I saw the "What is this?" and further mention of Hilti. Well, it brought back lots of memories of being a Hot Metal Steel Worker.
