Old decoy question

my old man bought at a junk shop for $15, but I can't figure out who made it.

I think the head is either a P/E Mason or a hunter Mason knock off, the body has me stumped. Chines are heavily rounded, hips are 5.5" at the widest, the body depth is about 2.75". The shelf is really nice, and the breast is undercut as well. I don't get the impression it is a Mason body. It appears to be made out of pine.

hopefully the pics show

Tim, I am no expert so I figured I would just offer some advice. There are several antique decoy websites that you can email and send photos to. Most will email you back and tell you what they think you have. It's worth a shot.

No expert on decoys either. The head seems not to be the original but added on at a later time. Too bad someone took off the original paint.

Peterson, precursor to Mason. Looks like the head may not be original or has been altered when it was sanded. Body says strait Peterson.

Here is on on E-bay

Thanks guys,

To say it is a Dodge or a Peterson body with a not original head has to be close enough for the old man, he just bought it to put it on his fireplace mantle so it can collect some dust most likely hehe

Geoff, you are too funny! Supposed to be some spoonies flying your way one of these days, but I don't have a workshop at the moment, everything is in storage - should be up and running in a month or two I hope.
