Older Dave Clark Estuary - Paint Removal Help

Hoping someone might be able to give some tips on removing paint from the upper deck of an older Dave Clark Estuary boat. Has many layers of paint with lots of pealing. Under the paint there appears to be some kind of textured fiber mate of some kind. Not sure what that is at all. Lots of paint on all of the brass fittings as well and would like to get them safely cleaned up as well. Any help, tips or insight will be greatly appreciated.

That guy screwed that boat up. I hope David can't see these pictures.

I would assume you can scrape that old paint off with a 5 in 1 tool, sand it, and spray it again. Not sure on the brass.

By the way, how much does that boat draft? I heard the estuary draws 6", then 4", then 2". Just looking for clarity

It looks like the paint did not stick well to the painted canvas I would just chip away at it with a putty knife and hope you can get most of it off then try a little of the water soluble paint removers. As for the brass try some of the water soluble paint removers and some scraping and scotch brite pads. It will consume alot of time but if the painted canvas is all as nice as what is visible you should have a nice deck

I used Klean Strip on my boat. Rubbed off with coarse steel wool. Wear good rubber gloves. The stuff will burn your skin. Neutralize with water. If there is more than 1 or 2 coats of paint it will take a second application.
