One for the record books - 2 Long Island hunts

Beautiful photos and write up! Really enjoyed that and I found it made me want to hunt there.

Shelldrake is a term I was familiar with. Funny though, "lawn dart" was always something we associated with loons when I was younger.

Steve, when a hunt becomes one for the record books like the story was about, that is a perfect hunt. I sure learned a lot from this story and fine set of pixels. Thanks so much. Gunning without a shell in the chamber happens to be almost one of my prerequisites to duck hunting. It happens more than I care to talk about.

Steve, Sure is pretty down at that end of the bay. 40 years or so ago we used to scallop down around those islands. When it petered out with dredges we used chest waders and look boxes. We made long handled nets with about an 8 inch mouth and a polypropelene mesh bag about 6 feet long. Lots of fun, those little boogers can really scoot around! I think we ate more than we sold. regards, Rich

Steve, Your Photos Remind me of our South jersey marshes, Your Story behind the Photos were exceptional. my last yr of hunting was done with a fellow hunting partner like Craig who did all the work . Now much younger guys who I brought into this fine sport take me & I just go along for the over all enjoyment weather I fire my Gun or not ,& by the way we have all experienced the empty gun syndrome when ducks are over the decoys . Great photos & Nice story Steve.
