Only 33 days left to wait

There is always something interesting going on in your back yard Al. As always the hummingbirds are great!

Hey Tim. Thanks for the update on the birds. I still have 3 squabs in the nest boxes but that is it for the year. You and I think on the same track. Our Cooper's hawk pair that are local keep us company. When hungry they go on the prowl and normally thin out my birds to just about where I want them. By that time, with all the raptors in this area when BdA NWR is stacked with waterfowl and cranes plus shore birds, I keep my birds locked up. They don't stand a chance from October thru the first half of March.

Greg, that is the tip of the iceberg around here. I forgot to put in a picture about these tykes who are now 20 days old.

Found out within the past 3 or 4 days that we will be having more pups on the way. Thank goodness they will be whelped prior to the opening of our regular duck season which is the latter part of October.

Still things to work on in the kennel. Then to get up on the roof of Bev's studio to repair some shingle damage from some strong storms that whipped through here.

The Gambel's quail are all over the place. We had over 50 of them come through towards the pond last week. Bev and I were on the swing with 3 dogs at below us and they still came by. 3 coveys we thought.

Time to start cutting firewood now. Lots to do. We love retired life.
Al
