Opening day of snipe season

Dani
The 3 Bosanny's in a drift boat flyfishing the Colorado River rapids was a dream. For a change I was the novice experiencing flyfishing on the run, if you will. I exposed my son to stream fishing as he grew, then he too his son and now the grandson who is the expert and is instructiong us. It was pretty physcial for this old fart but a real rush. If you haven't done this put it on your list to do and I can arrange for a good looking blonde guide to take you. I'll dig some prints up and email them to you.

Wis Boz-

Glad to hear that you had such a great time. Glad to hear that us young'us can teach our elders a thing or two every now and then. I have never done any drift fishing....what kinds of fish were you targetting? That sounds like it would be fun....would love to see some pictures....

Nice story of the hunt...Almost brought tears of my eyes when I saw the brass clasp on the side daggers to the transom spash rails...Then reading later that you had a Bud Miles...If you learn the boats ways you will always have a warm dinner everynight...Mine will not be here in Louisiana till after Thankgiving when I pick it up in Kentucky during the Thanks holiday...Good luck with the repair...You have a GEM!

Does it also have the up swing towards the lower back of the transom instead of cambering from stern to transom on the bottom...If it does it will plane very well with a 9.9 or 15...Then of course that might be one of Bud's traits in building...Mine will be hunting Catahoula and Toledo Bend for cans and possible Vermillion Bay for redheads...

Regards,

Kristan

Dani,

I've wallered around in some of that mud. I was boatless when I lived in Gainesville. I would walk into the River Styx or some small ponds in the area. I do remember one opening morning of duck season trying to wade through tree top filled backwaters. There were plenty of woodies flying. After the struggle I was having I decided not shoot. I left the dog a home so as not to feed the gators. Struggling over submerged brush gets old very quickly!

This yankee learned a lot playing in the swamps around Orange Lake, Lochloosa Lake and the River Styx.

Thanks for brining back good memories!

Kristan-

This Barnegat gets up on plane and stays on plane with the 15 on the back of it oh so nicely. It is a sweeeeeeet boat. I can't say enough good things about it. I have no doubt you'll love your box. Sounds like big plans for yours for sure. I've taken this one fishing and snipe hunting so far. I like it....someday I will own one

Tom-

Glad that I took you down a trip through memory lane....I've learned a lot about submerged brush, and even worse (IMO) floating islands...

We had some great snipe hunting out in Iowa last weekend. We didn't shoot many because we were too distracted trying to jump ducks. And my dog got a thorn in his paw and had to spend several days cooped up in the back of the truck. He did retrieve the one I shot, but I had to send him back to get it a second time. I think he really couldn't understand why I wanted something that tasted so bad.

What I've found is that as the mud approaches your crotch, things become exceedingly difficult.
