Justin was know as a great guy. He was the go-to guy for all questions regarding federal and state laws governing wildlife food plots and baiting issues.
He used to be a state wildlife biologist at Peach Point WMA and then guide at Bay Prairie Outfitters while he was waiting for his slot to go to the game warden academy.
He was know as a true gentlemen; firm but fair and respectful in the enforcement of the law.
His baby will never know him.

He was wearing his vest, but a round went into his chest cavity under an arm.

The dirt bag, Freeman, that shot him is know to have plenty of money, but no visible employment.
He lives with two other young guys (also know slime balls).
Freeman, may he rot in Hell, emptied a pistol and the switched to his AK-47/SKS.
Drugs and alcohol are suspected.

don't know if you recall this or not Paul but Justin was one of the two guys that "visited" with us on the dike the day you, Glenn Hilyer, Jeff Jacobs and I sat in that rice field in that incredible lighting storm...Justin the two good old early morning beer drinking boys that came across from the house to tell us how crazy they had though we had been for sitting out in that stuff...

Glad to see that the SOB was hit in the exchange..it makes me feel better to know that he's in pain....

well its comforting knowing texas still exercises the right to carry out a death penalty. poor guy, sounds like he was a true sportsmen what a shame.

Man, whenever I hear or read about something like this I feel my heart sink. My thoughts and prayers will be for his family and friends. It is too bad that the deputies or other wardens even allowed that guy to survive. I would have a hard time with that.

Where I was raised Freeman would die from Hemp Fever. Don't drop him, just drag him up slowly and leave him dangling.

That treatment will save all taxpayers a lot of money and at least be some payback and a warning to other dopists.

Sorry and I pray for the Warden's spirit,
Harry

I hate to hear that an LEO lost his life.

It really says something about the individual that fled and then got into a gun battle over night hunting. This dumbass will never know how much pain he caused, and that's probably the most insulting thing of all.

I must say that I'm surprised he survived the shootout and the ride to the hospital. If you could use the "he needed killin'" defense anywhere, well...there you go.

Hell has a special place reserved for him. In the meantime, he should have to sit in a room and look at a picture of that officer's wife and child every day, and someone should remind him that child will never know Dad, because this jackass thought a deer/whatever was worth the officer's life.

Nothing would right this... even if the shooter had been killed, in reality who would miss someone like that? The fact that he is alive, and hopefully will be put to death by the state of texas, will maybe deter the next peice of crap that wants to shoot it out with someone. It'll be news a lot longer if they drag it out for a year or two and stick a needle in his arm.

How you can kill a man for simply doing his job is beyond me. There is no act I could justify that for. No amount of money. Kill a man coming into my house, no sweat. Kill a man for doing his job, no way.

Whats really troubling is, someone (actually lots of someones) will devote a lot of time, money, and and energy to saving this guys life when texas decides to give him the needle. What a world we live in, when a person like this takes resources away from our societys problems. travis

Makes one realize how brave those wardens are. They are really the only law enforcement that goes into their job knowing that the offender will be armed. The man who shot him should be made into an example for others!

When I first read this I was unsure just how to express all the emotions I was feeling. As I reread it today, it is no better. Such a tragic loss. My heart and prayers go out to this warden's family.

My son-in-law is a deputy sheriff and not a day goes by that I don't pray for his and his fellow officers safety.

Paul,

let's hope that some sleeze ball attorney does not try to get him off because he was under the influence of drugs and booze. You know they will try though. For some unknown reason....being drawn and quartered seems fitting in this case.

A friend of mine in El Campo told me about this... He was our guide when I hunted down there a few years back (my buddy also guided for Bay Prairie).

The part that kills me... The guy was a known deer poacher, they were following him with NVG's and a blacked out vehicle, he got out and spotlighted/shot and the chase ensued... When they backtracked as part of the investigation, the guy apparently had run after he shot a POSSUM of all things. I was told that he was hit in the pelvis, the bullet traveled and ruptured an artery, 30 seconds later he was gone.

Good news is that it was in TX and he'll get the express lane for the chair...

Pablo----Might you be albe to contact the family and get permission to post an address where some of us might choose to send some finacial support or maybe to their church for a fund for the kids??????? thanks

What really baffles me is why this inbred idiot decided to shoot it out and kill an officer over a friggin' misdemeanor?
