Outboard Question

I have a 91 johnson 25hp tiller and i need to replace the kill switch. Now the problem is the new switch has a black and red wire but the one that is in the motor now has two black wires. So the question is how do i determine which one is the hot wire?

I dont think it matters the button just opens or closes the circuit

It doesn't matter, like it was said it just closes the circuit and sends the spark to ground. Chris
