Outboard Tiller Extension Suggestions?

Ok, I searched this site for all the previous posts on this subject, but I am wondering if anyone has any new ideas or photos of their tiller extensions?
It seems the biggest issues are getting the extension to be tight around the tiller where it attaches and having zero wiggle in the whole assembly once attached.

I am in the process of designing a new extension and would appreciate any ideas, photos or advice. My motor is a 25hp Yamaha 2 stroke.

If you search my name, you will find one that I made based on another listers photos....I have actually made several now, and the final design uses PVC a hose clamp, and aluminum tubing. I found the PVC was not stiff enough for my liking. I had a couple aluminum pool cleaner poles and used a piece for the extension. Plenty light, and plenty stiff. Each outboard (OMC vs Yamaha) had a slightly different design and dimensions. The latest for my Yamaha is the simpilest design and works fine. I added a spacer inside the fittings to compensate for the taper of the tiller handle. I don't have any pictures handy, but can get some this weekend if you don't see what you need.

My only issue is I need a tool (nut driver) to install and remove it. I would like to find a decent thumb screw hose clamp at some point.

My neighbor uses the conduit also on his outboards... currently on a 50hp Merc. Not a positive enough connection for me, though I run my sneakbox standing and his is a deep v that he sits in while running.

I just found this commercially made tiller handle... stainless steel construction, looks pretty high end, anyone try these before?

I have tried all sorts of tiller extensions over the years. Most are very rubbery & give you a very uneasy feeling at speed (pucker factor). This is the best I ever found. It is all anodized aluminum made by Blue Point Machine, somewhere near Titusville or Canavaral, FL. This boat does 31 mph on my gps. You really don't want to go that fast with a wet noodle tiller extension, plus this one has the kill button on the end.

Hope this helps.

I use 1 1/2" pvc, cut it to preferred length and then turn it 90 deg on a mitre saw and make slits on each side so it can expand when you slide it on. Tap it on to the tiller and strap it down with 2 hose clamps and paint. It is plenty rigid and have not had it come off.

I have the same set up on a 70hp johnson and it has been great. Just added a tilt and trim switch and kill button
