Overheard my wife-----

say this to one of her daughters who lives in Wisconsin. Evidently she had asked about me and Bev said, "Oh, he will be out scouting for some water. Duck season starts in four days." I thought about that comment and just smiled because it was so true.

Chili is ready. Wednesday morning is not that far away anymore. She is 7 years and eight months old and this is her 8th hunting season. So far she has retrieved 21 teal this year.

Al,
You are a blessed man indeed. Chili looks like she is ready to go and your wife seems to understand your duckhunting disease. Good luck on your opener. Stay safe and watch out for the snakes!!

I can't print what I overheard my wife say about duck hunting. She tolerates it for my sake and that is about it.

John, you should move up here. Your wife could keep my wife company while we go hunting!

I was chatting with my wife this morning about getting a pup from an upcoming litter when she said something about it keeping her company while I went hunting. I, of course, found that hysterical. Sometimes I don't know when to keep my mouth shut.

Al, you are truly blessed!

Ha, my girlfriend told me I could go "when ever" after I made grilled duck rapped in bacon after being marinated all afternoon. I told her I wouldn't forget that. She also tells me to go hunting sometimes because she wants to sleep in with out having to share the bed and deal with me or Kodiak.

Pat, please make sure she signs off on that statement. Having that in writing will pay off in big dividends, later on in life. (insert smiley face)

Word of caution - great girlfriends don't always turn into great wives ?!?!?!?! - can't tell until they have had a ring on for a few years (or decades). :).

Ditto to Tod's comment on a wife....sure we may have the occasional difference...but when she says "when we going deer hunting, or duck, or pheasant or....?" I shall not complain. If I do she has every right to kick my butt..

Al- Unfortunately we were out at the grill eating them as they came off and when we got inside she just smiled when I asked for it in writing.

Tod- We bought a house together over a year ago so we are pratically married in the eyes of all are friends and family. The interesting thing is, she is actually in no rush to get married. Bonus me! Found out this weekend her older sister has our whole wedding planned when we get that far. I'm in no rush either and told her sister so. Thanks for the word of caution.
