Paint for Fiberlglass duckboat?

I have been doing a lot of work on my new duckboat lately (13ft fiberglass marsh hawk, similar to a 14TDB) and the previous owners grass from last season wasn't looking good enough to work for this year... so I stripped all the grass off today.

Once I did so, I noticed the boat shined a little bit under that grass and that some of the metal parts could use a little paint to prevent rust... So I am thinking about painting the whole boat a solid color, then doing a simple camo job on top of that similar to what a TDB looks like.

Does anyone have any advice regarding paint selection? The entire hull is fiberglass and I am not quite sure what to paint it with to make it last. I figured I would ask everyone on here and get a few ideas before I make a decision...

I was thinking of using Parkers as well, not sure how it will adhere to fiberglass though... wondering if anyone here has had any experience?

Just looked at his website, he has instructions for painting a fiberlgass boat as well... I will be giving him a call tomorrow! Thanks!

You wont be disappointed in the FME paint. I used it on my boat build two years ago and it really does wear like iron. I just picked up some more paint at his shop for my newest build. It cost more but its worth it for a good product.

Or, you just wash the boat down really good, go to Walmart and buy some rattlecans of Krylon camo. If you are cheap like me.

Last year I put two coats of FME on a fiberglass boat after lightly sanding it to make sure all the wax was off. The boat looks like I just painted it. I had 2/3rds of a gallon left and my buddy used the rest. It's good stuff....John
