Painted picklefronds

Tom,
I am glad to hear you are hunting with Dave,
Enjoy the day and the company. I have enjoyed his book on Brant very much.

Tom,

Just saw the picture you posted on DCF of the picleweeds. AWESOME!! Can you post a pic of the floats prior to painting??

They will look great in the marsh..... and being able to go on a hunt with Dave.....priceless. Hope you guys have a great time.

Bob, I think I can post pictures here, but I need to use my other computer for some reason. I will take some pictures today of the six I made yeasterday before they get the stakes and paint.

Dave and I have been hunting partners for over 35 years, and I cherish each hunt. He is 90 now, and we hunt from a blind now instead of our Barnegats. The "Pickles" will be in the weeds in front of the blind this weekend.

Pickleweeds at the blind. I went out to the blind today and took this picture. Usually we stick them at the edge of the water just like you show in your set up Bob.... Think I'll do a few Widgeon next, gotta use up these floats somehow..View attachment 5 Pickles.JPG

Tom,
How large are those floats you used for the breast area? I've seen lots of small wood floats about 4 inches, if I remember, but I think that would be too small.

Kevin , these are all 6" Cedar net floats. I'm sure there are lots of them in net sheds around someplace. Do you ever get over to this side??

MLBob,
Awesome, i'm sure those will work out great for you! thanks for sharing!

Tom N

I really like those pickle-weeds! I think I may have to make some now with widgeon and pintails as well, hope all is well! Thanks for sharing!
