Last season I bought 8 sheets of avery real grass but I didn't feel that it blended very well with the marsh grass in south jersey it was a more tanish color and the marsh grass is more golden I read that people have spray painted the real grass has anyone done this and if so what color paint did you spray on it I was looking at spray paint and didn't really see what I was looking for thanks

I have painted it in the past and it did not look natural. I tried a few different ways, including a light mist of dark brown spray paint. It didn't look right. It is tough to weather but you really need to purchase the mats a few seasons in advance. Leave them outside for a couple years and then they'll blend in anywhere.

i took a hand full of salt hay to home depot paint dept. ask girl to run under scanner to match color( she looked at me as if i was nuts!) but did it . i then asked for a quart of interior latex . i took it home and mixed in water in small amt of paint put it in air brush and spray mat not to cover but to high lite. looked pretty good ( no pictures sorry). the hay isnt a solid color but a blend of shades. rick

try this minwax golden oak stain spray or brush on mats i like to spray it on let it dry in sun then spray with water let it dry again and wet it once more it works great i have grass mats that are 5 years old and are in real good shape it blends in nj salt marsh very well

fast grass needs to be left out to weather where it can get wet and then dry out. if it stays wet it will get mold. it will turn darker eventually.

That's exactly what I did - seemed to work! The only times ducks flared (I think) was because I was "sticking out" - due to the low tide.

I did manage to entice a couple of them in, despite that problem. When the tide came in, I was able to hide better.

Go to the area that you hunt at low tide. Mud them up. Just throw in the marsh mud real quick and throw them back in the truck. Then leave them outside to dry, get wet then dry again. They will be good to go.

Darken them up by putting them outside now so they will be ready for the next season.

I think too many people are selling themselves short by not using natural grass over the top of the fast grass. You have to use them as a base to your camo.

Hi Chris: I painted my fast grass with a solid color timber stain, oil base. Most any reputable paint store will blend the colors you want. I applied it with a brush in a random pattern. The stain dried to a dead flat finish which is most important.
