Panels cut??

I cut the panels out tonite. In some spots I cut the line almost to the point wear it disappears. Will this create a problem? Can I use a power planer to take the rest of the lines down? I have 1/8" at most left to plane. Thanks

Yes you can use a power planer... real planers are a pain on plywood.

Charlie, the beauty of stitch and glue construction is that voids are ok, the thickened epoxy acts like liquid wood to fill the voids.

Charlie, I had the same problem. Tried to cut just outside the line but didn't always make it. Once they were cut out I clamped them together and used a belt sander with 80 grit to smooth out the uneven parts. Not that worried about the small voids that this will create. I figure the filleting will cover the imperfections. I'll post some pics of my progress in another thread.

Thanks guys, I wish I could get my pics small enough to post but that seems impossible with my MAC!!! Andrew, You seem to be my "GO TO" guy,....thanks.. Jim, Good luck with your BBIII

I purchased a bosch power planer today and went to work, had the panels done in no time!! Put my stitch lines on and drilled the keel and chine. Tried to set up my router ffor my 45 bevel and couldnt use the bit that I bought. Router has 3/16 and 1/2" collets all my bits are 1/4" need to buy a 1/4 tomorrow and then I can stich her up!!!!!

Charlie... use the power planer for the bevel...two or three light passes and viola'... a perfect bevel. you will come to LOVE that power planer during the wood forming stage... you'll use it countless times for countless uses.
