Thought you all would enjoy this, but obviously not as much as me! Parker and I went up to Kentucky for the youth gun hunt this weekend. Not expecting much, maybe a chance at a doe. He had shot his 7mm-08 a few times and I felt comfortable with a 150 yd shot or so. Long story short, we had two nice bucks come out about 150 yards away. They fed towards us in the cut corn field and finally the larger buck turned broadside and presented a shot at 60 yds or so. Parker had him in the scope, I had him take a few deep breaths and sqeeze the trigger when he was on him! The buck gave a little kick back and slowly walked into the woods. I'm thinking not a good hit!!!! We waited an hour and went looking for blood in the corn field-nothing! We slowly went into the wood trail and finally found a good spot of frothy blood! Whew, lung shot I hope. Well, 100 yds into the woods one drop of blood at a time, we found him. Big 6!! His shot entered perfect behind the shoulder but didn't exit him. Big bodied deer, maybe 225 on the hoof! We are still excited!! Thank you LORD!!
