Pennsylvania bound

As some of you know I have been interviewing with a company in the Philadelphia area, I accepted an offer today with Partmaker Inc a CAD/CAM software company as an Applications Engineer and will be moving out there at the end of May. It has been a big decision for me since I have lived in Iowa all my life, but I think I would kick myself for not at least trying it.

Hopefully the offers to show a new guy around a little next season are still open. Im looking to forward to meeting some new hunting buddies!! Im also going to put my 16ft flatbottom up for sale and take my 12ft duckhunter with me.

Welcome! I'm not next door but I go right past to do most of my hunting. I'll be happy to show you around a bit. Your duckhunter will be very well suited here.

Congrats and best of luck with the move Dan! Stay in touch and we can hunt the shore.........................Kevin

Good luck with the move Dan. Let us know when you get out here and I know there are a few guys here that can show you around and get you to some ducks.

Dan,

Welcome to the Delaware Valley.

There are plenty of opportunites for hunting and fishing in the area. We are also located within striking distance to two great waterfowling areas, the Jersy Shore and the Chesapeake Bay. There are some also great events worth checking out. Google the Tuckerton Show and keep an eye out for the date in September. I've met a few guys from the site there.

Might want to consider keeping the 16' flatbottom for hunting & fishing the Delaware and Susquehanna. Just a thought!

If you ever get the urge to head to the Poconos to ski or trout fish, let me know. I grew up there & my sister lives there now, can give some tips on where to go/stay.

Thanks guys!! Im looking forward to hunting the coast and the bay! Its going to be a interesting year for sure, learning a new job as well as a new area. Looking forward to meeting some of you, hopeful someone will show me how to deal with tides. The marshes here dont rise and fall!! LOL

The NOAA tide charts will be your friend. Get them for every area you plan to hunt.
Then learn how the winds effect water levels as well.
Here, a strong north wind or south wind can make a huge difference in low/high tide levels. I am sure its the same way there in some spots.
After you have all that down, you just have to learn where birds want to be on which tide. And then dont get stuck!
