Pics from a classic day . . .

These were from a great day in Minnesota, this year. Other than this day, I've gotten one duck each outing, except last saturday when I got a goose instead!

Nice going Nick, Looks like you had a much bettter than average day!!! Nice ol Browning. Too bad Colby couldn't have been there. Were you out west?

Indeed, purple shells = 16ga. I've only shot factory loaded steel in 16ga and the performance was pathetic. The price on 'dad's reloads' is extremely competitive, so I've been shooting / testing bismuth, nice shot, and ITX over the past few years. He shoots the same reloads and also kent tungsten matrix #5. Generally very effective - as good as lead. We've shot #5 - BB at ducks, pheasants, geese. Good stuff! If I can figure out a place to set up a loading bench, I'll be starting to reload this winter, and I'd be interested in hand loading 16ga steel, just for further testing.

Tom - this was surprisingly early in the season - I wish Colby would have been there, too, but he wasn't even in the state yet! As for "out west" the farthest west I'll be hunting this year appears to be within a few miles of Hwy 71, so I don't think that qualifies as out west. Rice lakes are where its at!

Sounds like the weather is going to be real ducky this weekend and I'll probably be hunting solo. (That's as close as I get to handing out invitations!)

Understood but I need to hunt close to home this weekend, probably near Montacello Pelican Lake. Busy but close and a fun place to hunt. Good Luck.

I didn't have them done at that point. Last weekend I hunted over the two 'new' ones, but I didn't bring my camera . . . long story! I've got another one drying right now, that I hope to hunt tomorrow morn. If this frickin rain would let up I'd be more excited about taking the camera out. Inside shots will just never do . . .
