Places to train your Retiever close to Appleton, WI!

For those of you in the fox valley.. I posted this on dhc and thought it would be rude of me not to include it here since I get so much good information from you guys.. I hope it might help at least ONE of you.....

This is one I wish I would have read 3 years ago. It is tough to train a good retriever when you live in a city. The time to drive to a field or water can make even the most dedicated lose steam.

Behold. I have created the ultimate Appleton dog training collection map that holds fields and ponds friendly to dogs and their owners all within 10 minute drive of central appleton. Now you won't have to look all over for that perfect place to teach the double T or that perfect pond to teach the Swim By. This list will be updated periodically. Construction is the main enemy. Please keep these areas clean and always keep an eye on your dog. Many are close to busy roads.

Maybe I'll see you out there! Always nice to throw marks for another trainer.

Man on man, you sound like you got it going on bro. Great ideal, but I sure hope you don't end up standing in line at some of your favorite grounds by sharing or the increase in traffic means some posted signs going up.

I live in memphis, 5 minutes away from one of the biggest municiple parks in the country. I NEVER go there, cant stand the crowds, the rules, the permits, the having a horse run thru your set up or someone just walking. My stuff in town is shirking every year, by construction and development. I never tell people where I train, cept for the ones that come train with me. We look at good training grounds like public duck hunting, making it common knowledge is gonna ruin it at best, and loose it at worst. I train the majority of time in a field off of i40 in memphis, I bet 5,000 cars a week drive by while Im training, shooting poppers and tossing ducks. Its kinda kewl to think about all those people plugging along in traffic, and never realizing whats going on next to em. If ya ever coming thru memphis, I'll give you my urban training tour! hehe. travis

i have too agree with travis a good training spot around my home town is coveted ill take anyone but no telling of the good spots to many peeps at fishing holes and public parks

Heh, it's Appleton Wi. The chances of other trainers flooding me out are far, far, far less than construction pushing me out. Nay. IN all my years of training dogs on land in the city, I have encountered one other trainer and I saw him once 2 years ago and I've never seen him again. The population is just too small, and the construction growth too fast to worry about other trainers ruining it for me. Most of these fields are large enought to hold 2-3 trainers at one time anyway. This map was twice as big 3 years ago.. 50% of my sites have gone down to construction. Nay, I want people to be able to enjoy it while it lasts. I am already finding locations 20 min from town because of the building.. Not the people. Commerce is the enemy, not other trainers.
