Well guys, I was able to get some work done over the week and get things mostly finished up-she's pretty much ready for the water!

Cockpit coamings on

After primer and a ton of sanding, I did the base coat with Dead Grass Green FME

Then I sprayed a camo pattern with Dead Grass Brown and Tan FME

I glued a closed cell mat into the bottom of the hull for a floor-I'm excited to see how it works out, it seem like it will give good traction and be a comfortable place to sit for hunting out of the boat.

The actual launch date will have to wait a week or so, my muzzleloader deer hunt starts on Wednesday and I will be spending a few days up near this peak-I might have a hard time concentrating on deer hunting knowing I have a nearly finished, unlaunched boat at home!

Pretty much all that is left to do is to get the oarlock system figured out and get her on the water!

Spectacular! Excellent workmanship as always.

Can you weigh her with your deer scale?

Also, when she sees water, I'd be very curious to know what she draws.

All the best,

SJS

Excellent work. You have a great eye for details, I like the combings. Very clean work too. Beautiful boat.

Thanks for the kind words guys! I will post some water shots when I get her out for a trial. Steve-I am looking to borrow a scale from a friend, if I get it from him I'll post the weight. I can say that it's a good bit lighter than my 16' Old Town canoe, which is about 90lbs, so my best guess is that she weighs about 75lbs. I'm building a rack to carry her on the roof of my Nissan Xterra, I don't think that cartopping her will be much of a problem.

Cody, what workmanship! Congrats on this beautiful boat that you built. I'll bet you lay awake at night thinking about the ducks flying over you when you'll be in that boat.

My guess is that when muzzle loader season opens in less than 24 hours now, that there will be one deer being backpacked back to your rig. Good luck.

When does your duck season open?

Cody, You are going to love her!!! Very nice job, now it needs some mud on the decks. Good luck with your smokepole and get on to the REAL season ;-)). Mine is on the trailer ready to go this weekend.

Thanks again for all the nice comments guys! Al-our waterfowl season runs from October 4 to January 17, with goose season going to January 25. I will be elk hunting the first week of the season, which is fine by me because it gives the once-a-year guys that hunt the first week of the duck season time to clear out of the marshes. It's all coming up pretty fast!
Tom-good luck, post some more photos of your rig in action!
