Pond box

The founder of the club I belong to has used a pond box for years for hunting in the salt marsh. I've borrowed his a few times in the past, and it is so useful for dragging everything you need, and setting decoys. Anyway, at the end of the season this year he told me two of his buddies had pond boxes they bought 40 years ago and barely used that they wanted to sell. I bought one and my friend bought the other. All fiberglass except the backboard and coating around the cockpit. My girlfriend is less than excited about it. I thought you guys might appreciate it more.

Dave, that is one heck of a pond box. They were used out on Long Island before the large floaters. They were all cedar plank. Good luck with it...

Like it , what are the dimensions and weight ? How did you hunt your dog out of it? I think my timber/swamp dog stand would work.

It's about 7 feet long by about 30" wide. I haven't measured it so that's a guess. i normally have the dog lay next to our blinds when we layout hunt, if we are setting up in shallow water, I am going to have to come up with a solution for that. Good question.

Thanks dave,

I use an Avery adjustable platform with a little pop blind strapped to it. You could easily cut one that would fit in the floor of your box, carpet the top. I taught the dog to sit on it in the yard and retrieve from it there before I used it in the field.

Nice find
