With all of this talk about, and pictures of puppies being tossed around here, I thought I would get in on the act to keep it rolling.
About two years ago, we had to put our beloved "Missy" down due to some type of cancer in her pelvis area. She was a good dog. The best. Well, a few months ago, we caught wind of a breeding of one of Missy's nephews with my Wife's sister actually owning the Stud Dog. My wife had casually mentioned "maybe it was time" for a pup. I poo-pooed the idea as I'm not ready yet, or (our present dog), Suzy is not ready for another in the house.
What my wonderful Wife didn't realize, was that I had made contact with the "Mother Dog's" owner soon after the breeding. I had been scheming all along...
Everyone in her family was in on the act. Every time the matter came up, it was soon quietly squelched, the subject changed. Then this pic appeared on that "Facebook" site for all to see...
OH BOY! the stuff hit the fan! Eight boys and two girls. My Mrs. got real excited. WE NEED ONE OF THOSE PUPPIES! she started saying pretty loudly. I had to think fast, so the next day I told her I made a call to the owner, but we were way down on the list, and since there were four females promised, and only two born, it probably wasn't going to happen. Whew, I hate to lie, ESPECIALLY to HER!
After about five weeks of this deception, I started thinking about all of the fun is involved in just the planning for, and anticipation of getting a new family member. I decided to tell her so we could enjoy the experience together. Since my mischievous Daughter was in on the act, and we had made plans to go visit, the now five week old, puppies this weekend, I decided NOW is the time. I made the call. Since she was at work, the call wasn't so bad. Short and sweet. However, to say she was ecstatic would've been an understatement. Besides, I then sent her this photo. How can you NOT smile at this?
Saturday morning, instead of my Daughter and I meeting up somewhere secretly on our little clandestine planned trip, she just simply came here to our house to tag along.
So this is our, soon to be anyway, new addition. Miss "Annie Oakley". Can one detect the excitement in my wife's smile?
We have plans to pick her up on the fifteenth. Coincidently, the start of my Wife's week long spring break. How perfect!
I'm sure I'll keep you posted along the way...
