Pup's First Duck Season

I am by no means a dog trainer but I had the best duck season with our chocolate pup! I lost my yellow lab back in April and kind of "inherited" this pup at 5 months old. I started hunting him at 8 1/2 months in early November and finished duck season last weekend at nearly 11 months. We made some incredible memories with my sons. I threw this short video together from some of our hunts. He's come a long way in short duck season!

Like these kind of toothy things? :)

I live in South Carolina, which has a good many gators, but I have hunted South Louisiana for the last 20 years which has a whole lot more! We only take our pups when big duck season starts in November. Water temps from the Mississippi river are in the 50's and lower so gators stop actively feeding in our marsh. September teal season is a race to who can get the bird first, you or the gator!

Wind Chills are forecasted to be -40 to -50 this coming week. We had a foot of snow last week and depending how the storm tonight tracks, we are supposed to get another 6-15". God I love this ? You can also read this to say... I will take this over even having to think about those toothy things!!!! I am happy for the hard decisions are.. Is the wind making it to dangerous to go out, or hunt point X today... or is it too dangerous to send the dog out on the ice to get a bird today!!!

Cool recap, nice band as well. Some really nice head on still shots with bird in mouth. Looks like you'll have many happy seasons ahead! Enjoy.
